Empowerment of Dayak Women's Business Groups through Skill-Based Workshops on Wood and Plastic Waste Utilization

This community service activity aims to increase the production capacity, technical skills, and economic added value of the business groups fostered by the Dayak Women's Institute (LPD) of Central Kalimantan Province through a workshop on utilizing wood and plastic waste into beaded crafts. The activity was held on January 7–9, 2026 in Palangka Raya City, Central Kalimantan Province, involving interdisciplinary lecturers from the Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur as facilitators. The implementation method of the activity includes a participatory approach, practice-based learning, demonstrations of the use of manual plastic injection machines, and direct assistance in the craft production process. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of waste processing techniques, mastery of machine operations, and the ability to produce craft products with more consistent quality and market value. In addition, this activity strengthened participants' awareness of the importance of the principles of environmental sustainability and a creative economy based on local resources. Overall, this community service activity contributes to strengthening the business capacity of Dayak women, both from technical, social, and economic aspects, and has the potential to support the sustainability of community businesses at the local level.
